The sitemap works fine for me - can you post a link to your actual sitemap so we can try and work out what the problem is?

Your sitemap looks absolutely fine - why do you think it doesn't work.

Presumably you have a Google Webmasters account (www.google.com/webmasters) ? If so - does it report any errors under Site Configuration >> Sitemaps ?

Feel free to email me any errors to look at [junk (at) talpa (dot) plus (dot) com]

If you click on the sitemap name in Google Webmaster Tools it should tell you what the error(s) are - can you post them here - or email them to me and I'll try and work out what's going on.

maybe is a problem of my HOST?

Possibly - although your robots.txt file has random error messages in it which probably doesn't help?

    http://www.wimax-italia.it/robots.txt

Maybe Google think they're not allowed to access it - certainly the sitemap looks fine to me.

I have the same problem as many others here...I can't figure out how to manually submit my sitemap in the webmaster tools section of Google. It can't read anything.

    Any suggestions?

I've been using Google-Sitemap-Generator for some time now.

The most recent updates have seemed to create issues with Google Webmaster Tools sitemap section.

I had never experienced a RED X prior to the most recent versions of Google-Sitemap-Generator.

In some cases I will have to resubmit the sitemap 4 or 5 times for it to stay valid.

    It's usually the same message:

General HTTP error: 404 not found

I seem to get errors sometimes as well. I have the latest version of the plugin and wordpress. Sometimes when I check my google webmaster account, my urls go from a total of say 100 down to say 9. I check my /sitemap.xml file and what do you know, there's only 9 URL's. I have to manually rebuild the sitemap and then all 100 URL's show up again in the sitemap.xml file and on google webmasters. Also, like others, sometimes my sitemap.xml file is unavailable when google tries to download it? I"m guessing that could be my server though? who knows. But the first problem seems to be with the plugin?

Forgot to mention. When the error occurs, the plugin seems to only build a sitemap with my 'pages' and no 'posts'. After I manually rebuild it, all pages and posts appear.

I started two sites at same time and installed old plugin ver 3.1.2 from my hard drive in both. I upgraded plugin on one site but forgot to upgrade other. Site with the upgrade gave error mentioned above in my webmaster account but site without upgrade showed an OK tick. Reverted back to ver 3.1.2 and it now shows a tick for xml.gz.

I thinks it's a bug in the plugin. If not...then a potential security breach caused by this plugin or another plugin affecting the plugin.

A new development. I have been checking the xml and xml.gz files and when I submit them. Somehow, the content is changing. Sometimes everything expect for the landing page "disappears". Sometimes a line of text full causes a parsing error toward the top of the sitemap.

Again, this all began with the most recent update.

Also, is there a way to add a last modified date to not only pages but to posts? I thought I had it selected but my xml file only has a last modified date for pages.

got the same problem recently. What i did is update (if there's an available update) the plugin and resubmit the sitemap.xml. Now its working fine. I also suggest that you must never edit some of the files in this plugin as it may cause some errors.

I've got a red cross which has now appeared and i think its because the actual sitemap is appearing in the sitemap.

Wouldn't this just send google round and round.

So I'm using the google XML sitemap plugin.

Anyone know how to solve it.

    Cheers,

    James
