• I am running WP 3.0.1 with XML Sitemap Generator for WordPress 4.0.2.

    Here’s the weirdness…

I have a site with a primary blog and about 50 network blogs. I have sitemaps for each blog in the spot the automatic detection assumes. The sitemap is being automatically rebuilt for the primary blog but not the network sites.

I can create the sitemaps when I click on rebuild the sitemap manually. No errors. However, the automatic rebuild for the network sites always returns this error:

“There was a problem writing your sitemap file. Make sure the file exists and is writable.”

As I’ve said I can create the sitemap by clicking on the manual build link. However, the auto rebuild doesn’t work.

Also, I’ve attempted the rebuild via GET request. That returns a page stating “DONE”. No errors on the GET page. However, plugin page still states that the rebuild failed (same error). The “Last Modified” attribute sitemap file in the directory has not changed after the GET request either.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

  • I’m having the same problem. I run 5 sites off the same account, all using this plugin. They all work except for one site, and I just can’t figure out why that is. No matter what I do it will not auto-update. So far I haven’t found any suggestions or solutions and haven’t heard anything from the plugin author.

I wish I could offer you some advice but it still doesn’t work for me and like you I haven’t heard anything from the author.
