I am getting a warning when I try and embed a PowerPoint presentation:

Warning: preg_replace() [function.preg-replace]: Compilation failed: unknown option bit(s) set at offset -1 in /home/ftpacct/public_html/wp-includes/shortcodes.php on line 257

Has anyone else received such warning and figured out the issue?

    Thanks,
    Erick

    Hi Erik,

What is the shortcode you're using? (If it's private, send a support request via the support link in your plugin list or in the footer of the settings page.)

It looks like the shortcode is malformed in some way. Ensure by using the "HTML" tab in the editor ("Text" tab in WP 3.5 beta) that there are no strange characters or link tags, etc. that may not be visible in the visual editor.

    Hi Kevin,

Thanks for looking into this, I'm sure it's something I'm doing wrong, just can't figure it out.

Here is my shortcode from HTML:

    [gview file="http://www.saintmaryschs.org/wp-content/uploads/Gettysburg.ppt"]

It 'feels' to me like it is a php issue, my hosting company updated their PHP to the latest version recently and since then I've been having similar problems with photo captions. (WP is current version)

I don't think it's anything you're doing wrong, provided your shortcode is exactly as you pasted it above. That shortcode works fine on my site (latest WP, as well).

Sounds like you may either have a PHP issue with your hosting provider, or could do with a "repair install" of wordpress (Dashboard > Updates > Reinstall Now).

    Hope that helps,

    Kevin
