Is there any way to display the actual document title, NOT the filename?

As far as the filesystem is concerned, the filename IS the document title. Do you mean a file name set in the document properties of a PDF, or a manually entered name of some sort, or...?

Sorry, to clarify, I mean the actual "Title" you assign within WordPress' attributes for media. Eg: Title, Description, Caption
Would it be possible to include the Title using an assigned variable?

File names, if named properly, usually don't (or shouldn't) contain spaces and/or uppercase letters. Therefore, presenting the filename is not the prettiest.

With that said, keeping the filename variable as an option still has great value – when you want to display the a filename.

Thanks for the clarification. While uppercase letters aren't generally an issue, spaces are. I agree this isn't as nice as it could be. I'll look into adding this option in a future version. Thanks for the suggestion!
