Some help with "Events" and "Custom reportin (2 posts)

Okay, so I've got this plugin up and running and i'm trying to find all the custom metadata that Joost was talking about.

For example, I'm trying to find the author data - ie, to see how popular the posts are by various authors. I watched Joost's example but I can't find it anywhere in google analytics. Could there be something wrong with the way my templates are set up? ie, how does google know who the author of a page it? Should there be some special div class around the Author's name?

Second. What exactly are "Events"? I keep trying to read about them but google's instructions are aimed at developers and are way over my head. For example, let's say I want to find out how popular various links on my nav bar are. Is that the kind of thing I can track via events and this plugin? How am I supposed to set that up? Any instructions lurking around somewhere?

    Many thanks!

So... let's just start with Author. My quick question - this is supposed to work out of the box? How does it work?

It's definitely not working on my site, I suspect it has to do with the way my templates are coded, but I could be wrong.
