Hello forum! This is my first post.

I wanted to install google analytics on my wordpress site so I tried two options:
    1) Manually enter the code snippet in the header.php section BUT I in my WP theme this section does not have a body or head tag so I did not know where to place the code...so I didn't. So...

    2) I tried installing Google Analytics For Word Press. (I use the most recent versions of WP and Google Analytics For WordPress). Originally after installing when I tried to "grant access" to google to authenticate it would bounce me back and give me the message "Google Analytics is not active. You must select which Analytics Profile to track before it can work." After clicking "authenticate" again I got the message, "Unfortunately, an error occurred while connecting to Google, please try again...reauthenticate." When I check off the "manually eneter your UA code" button the "autheticate" button disapears. I figured everything would be ok so I left it over night but today google analytics still shows the "caution icon" and its status is "tacking not installed."

I have read forums, intalled and uninstalled many times. *Get this...now when I install the plugin it automatically fills in my UA code so that it doesn't request to authenticate.

I have exhausted my efforts...and do not know what to do from here. Here is my header.php file at pastebin: http://pastebin.com/2WsiMT0J

Hope this hellps...and that I can get help!

Thanks to everyone in advance (:
