Google Analytics for WordPress
Google Analytics is not active. HELP! (9 posts)

After the latest wp.org upgrade I re-activated my plugins and when checking the settings of each plugin just now on the Google Analytics for WordPress Configuration I am getting the message:

"Google Analytics is not active. You must select which Analytics Profile to track before it can work."

I only have 1 GA account and have never had this issue in over two years.

When I click on "re-authenticate with Google" I get redirected to the grant access page click "Grant Access" and get redirected back to Google Analytics for WordPress Configuration and get this message:

Unfortunately, an error occurred while connecting to Google, please try again:

Why is this plugin broken now?? Also I do not know how to manually add code very well so I prefer not to do that...as that is the reason I use this plugin the first place.

Please let me know what to do ASAP or I have to find an alternative...thank you.

Have any of you found a solution for this issue? I've seen this same issue reported in several forum postings. And, I'm having the same problem.

In case you still need a fix, I found this and it seems to have worked (the key is selecting to enter the UA Code manually).

Entering the code manually is a work around. Joost, please fix this. Or at least acknowledge the problem - it is happening to many people.

I agree that they should just fix it. I can't believe how many posts I saw about the same issue. But, I sure am glad to have a work-around for now.

I don't know if my problem has the same root cause.

I installed the plugin, set the UA code manually, and waited.

From my WordPress.com site, I saw that someone hit on the link to my website. So visit should be 1. But when I logged into GA to check, visit = 0.

Is this plugin supposed to work the way we are told to configure it?
