Downloaded it fine, installed it fine, configured it fine (was impressed with the options available), however, when typing up a new post and clicking the “Insert Recipe” button I only get a message saying “Once you have added a recipe by using the Recipes menu on the left sidebar (below the Posts menu) you can come back here and insert that recipe into your post.

That would be all fine and well…had there been a button in the left sidebar, under the Posts menu, but alas, there isn’t, so can’t use it for now.

I’m sure it is a quick fix for someone “in the know”…? 🙂

    Hi,
    Thanks for installing the plugin.

I’ve not heard of this issue before, you should see this image

Can you try disabling other plugins and switching to the default theme to see if that fixes the problem?

If you could let me know if that solves it and which plugin/theme caused the issue I will try and make our plugin work with it.

    Thanks,
    Kevin

    Hi Hellquist,

http://www.getmecooking.com/recipe-template-info#createAndManageRecipes shows a screenshot of where the ‘Recipes’ menu should be.

As Kevin says, there is probably another plugin that you have running that is preventing it from running. Please try temporarily disabling your other plugins in order to identify the one that is causing the issue.

Thanks for prompt replies (and nice follow-up on Twitter, would have replied there too if Twitter wanted to play nicely, which it currently doesn’t). I have replicated the blog in question on another URL (in a sort-of-staging kinda set-up) as I currently have too many users on the “offending” blog to start turning all plugs off.

I am sure you are right though. Will come back when I know more (short on time today).

It’s always good to have a test server to play with 🙂

    Thanks.

Just because you lot are such a friendly bunch I actually had to find it NOW, and I did. I have come to the conclusion that WPeMatico is the offending plugin. It also tries to place button just beneath “Posts” in the sidebar, and as it stands right now I have to pick one or the other.

Unfortunately this particular site is about aggregating 12 other blogs and act as a hub/centre which links out to the separate blogs, so WPeMatico is currently quite (more) crucial to the overall site idea than the specifics of which recipe plugin I would be using (for the main owner of the hub blog). :/

That is a shame as GetMeCooking definitely looks like the best recipe plugin.

    Hehe thank you! 🙂

We’ll install the WPeMatico on our dev server and identify the issue. We’ll keep you posted!

Thanks for finding the bug, it was a problem in our code.

I’ve found a fix so what you see in the menu will be:
    Posts
    Recipes
    WPeMatico

I’ll update our plugin this weekend!

    Thanks,
    Kevin

The latest version of our plugin is now live. The issue was actually a fundamental flaw in WordPress as described here:
    Enhancement ticket

I’ve had the same problem for about three days now. I was able to add a recipe to my previous post but now nothing. After saving the recipe the message tells me to go to the post section and use the GetMeCooking button to insert the recipe. There is no button. I’ve deactivated and reactivated all my plugins and still no fix. I’m new to wp.org so not very good at all the codes, help!

    Hi athomewrebecka,

Your’e describing a different issue. Since it was working, have you installed / upgraded any other plugins since it last worked?

It sounds like there is a JavaScript error.

Did you deactivate all other plugins and then try? It could also be a theme issue, does the error go away if you activate the default Twenty Eleven theme?

    Thanks,
    Kevin
