• WordPress tiny MCE editor disappears to author/editors, remain in admin user role.

Plugin version: 0.9.9.3.4, WordPress version: 3.1.2

Problem: MCE editor disappeared in every user minus the admin user. After disabling Frontpage Slideshow plugin MCE editor was instantly reverted to working condition to the affected user roles (author, editor, contributor).

Notes: I found the problem the next day I have installed the Frontpage Slideshow plugin after the editors of our website started reporting that the MCE editor is missing leaving them unable to post correctly. When I (as admin role) went to check the problem, the MCE editor appeared correctly.

When I accessed the post editor under different user roles (author, editor, contributor) the MCE editor was not functioning (empty of buttons).

After googling the Net for several hours I have found reports (in comments) about other people being affected by exactly the same problem.

Current Status: Problem unresolved. Had to uninstall it.

Ok you got a problem, but I do not hava any element to solve it.

De-activate all other plugins, use the default theme : is the problem still here ? If yes, do you have some javascript errors ?
When you are exploring the DOM, do you see the editor or not ?

Friend please, I posted for two reasons only.

    -To help other frustrated admins
-To help keeping this excellent slider bugless.

I have no time to experiment in the websites I admin.

    Take care.

Forgive me for the delay to answer,

the only help I can offer is an advice:

Make a new user (editor role) and access a test site with this account to see if it is affected by the problem. If it does you may be able to debug.

    Good work nevertheless.

I had the same problem, that is: the Tinymce buttons totally disappeared in the ‘Editor’ user role. I used Safari. When I switched to Firefox the buttons showed up as usual. So try it with another browser.
