hum just read the plugin page and “how to use” and just have a look on options, all is written… make a little effort ! slides are posts, images are the first image of those posts or the image that have been configures for those posts… so simple

hi jeff if you can give the steps for that then it is better for other users as well i also confused with the procedure of this plugin

Again : the plugin uses the articles to create slides. Each slide correspond to an article. By default, the image that is displayed on a slide is the first image of the corresponding article. Its title is made from the article title.
The plugin provides many ways to fine tune the slider appearance : an admin page and a configuration box added just below the editor of articles creation/edition page…

If anyone else (with a better English) could help me on this…

Thought I’d step in and give my three cents.. No offense at all to the author, but the instructions were not fully clear. However, now that I have mine all configured (and may I say it ROCKS!!) I too have to admit that it wasn’t fully clear how to use this plugin at first either. So I thought I’d throw in a little help for those who may be wondering how to use this..

1st steps are to use the Settings > Frontpage Slideshow to configure the overall slideshow settings. Read through each setting of course, but the two most important settings at BARE minimum to get started IMHO are the following two settings:

    • “About categories and posts” – select the post category(s) that will be used by the slideshow plugin
    • “About sizes, positions and colors”

For my site I decided to setup a dedicated post category for my slideshow. I called my “homepageslideshow”. Create a post, select your post ctegory and update the “Frontpage Slideshow Options” section of the post edit screen accordingly (you’ll see this after you install this plugin), and that’s pretty much it.

In my slideshow I included an image in the body of the post, and the slideshow picks that and the post title up. The “Frontpage Slideshow Options” give you other options for images, titles, and comments. You also have an option to direct the slideshow item to a specific site page. If you don’t choose a page, depending on your settings, clicking on a slideshow item will direct visitors to the slideshow post you are creating.

Hope that helps others.. Once you get the hang of it, this is a pretty ingenuous little plugin..

Here’s a link to my slideshow in action: http: // overthehillweb . com/

Can this display only images or banner that will rotate???
i got it works for the post with images but I want to show only images or banners from my site on the home page in a static page. will this be possible through this????
    how can i do it???

thanks to DivaVocals! you know that french is my native language and that explain something in french and english is very different… and its difficult to be clear when you are the author 🙂 Good job !

@rahulneo yep you can do all you want to

@jeff – Parle vous francais?? **LOL** I’m afraid it’s been over 30 years since my last french class.. So that is the full extent of the french I do remember.. 🙂

No worries on the language thing.. I was happy to step in with my little three cents.. Hope others find it helpful as well.. Your little plugin in was JUST the finishing touch I needed for my newly redesigned website.. Bravo to you!!! 🙂

@rahulneo – My suggestion is that you take a little time to experiment with the various settings to achieve the look/feel you want. I think it’s doable..

    Hello,

I’ve been scouring the other posts looking for information on this subject-

My question is this: are there any other themes out there? I see that you can change the theme, but I haven’t been able to find it. Also, I would like to be able to, instead of having the forward and backward button, have the number of slides at the bottom, something like this:
    http://www.skatehere.com

Let me know if that’s possible! I’m willing to do a bit of coding for it, just point me in the right direction! Thank you!

At this time there are not other themes : its up to you to make your own for the moment. All is possible with a bit of coding.

Finally I have found the answer as to how to add images! Wow, I have been searching all over the place in the plugin files, definitely NOT clear enough in the instructions…I was just about to uninstall, phew!

as I said : how to use this plugin is really clear for me (happily!) and explain things in two different languages is a hard thing to do… but, you know, its like more than 10 000 websites that use this plugin with success and people that maintain those websites has understood how the plugin is working… ahem… 😉

@jeff.. I agree.. While I do agree that the directions were not perfectly clear, given the language constraints I understand that! However, it took no more than me simply messing around with the plugin to figure out how it worked all by myself..
