Plugin for displaying covers? (6 posts)

    Hello,

I have been searching fruitlessly for a plugin that fills a need we have. We publish a monthly journal on deadwood, and we're currently in the process of putting our archives online via WordPress. It seems like a good solution, but there are a couple of desires that are missing.

The biggest one is this: We'd like to post a picture of the magazine issue's cover next to content from that issue, both in browse and search results.

I've noted that Time Magazine has done this with WordPress, but I'm also aware they may have built their own plugin for their own use.

However, I'm hoping I'm just picking bad keywords and that such a plugin exists already. If not, perhaps someone can direct us down the road to construct our own plugin?

    Thanks!

How are you publishing the issue content? In a Post or Page?

I've currently been posting each article as a post. I'm very new to WordPress, so if there is a more realistic option, or a simple way to collect each article as belonging to an "issue" I'm all ears!

There are a few plugins that might make things a little easier for you:
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/series/
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/organize-series/
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/post-series/

With regard to the cover image. why not just add it as a featured image to each relevant post?

Thanks! I see if I can find how to post a featured image.

I may be back with more questions, because there are so many themes and plugins and widgets that they all just seem to turn into white noise unless you know exactly what you are looking for and are able to put it into precise words. I'm still failing at finding plugins for bylines that actually display, but that will be a separate thread.

I feel like such a noob. PHP, I understand, CMS, not so much!

    Thanks again!

Scroll down the Add New/Edit Post page and look for the Featured image link on the right side,
