    Hi,

Thanks for making such a neat plugin. Is there any way of setting it up so that it opens the links in the same window instead of opening a new tab?

    Thanks,
    Witek

There isn't by default, but it's easy to do. Everything opens in a new tab by default under the concept that external links shouldn't take users away from your site. But, with this plugin there are cases where the links go to pages on the site, or there are other reasons to open in the same tab.

So, the question is whether you want all the links in a new tab or for them to be able to all be different. My guess would be that you're not the first person to want this, so I should probably add the feature. I would add it as an option for all of the links to do the same thing though, as this helps minimize option bloating...

Thanks, is there a way to change that within the code?

Personally, I'd prefer the ability to choose how each link opens. For example, I might like my Facebook link to open a new tab, but my blog link to remain in the same window. Up to you, though :]

However, if you have a way of changing all of them, I'll take that now, please :]

Yes, I'll look at that for the next update but for now it's super easy:

Go to the plugin editor for this plugin.
Open floating-social-media-links.php and scroll to the very bottom. You should be able to see where each link is in the code. on the same line as each link, there should be a target="_blank". Remove this piece on each link you want to open in the same window.

And then just watch the changelog for that feature (I'll find an efficient way to allow customization on each link, as I agree that it'd be nice). And you should be safe to update without worrying about losing the edits once that feature's there.
