Looks like your theme is missing jQuery library. Most of the WordPress themes (including the default one) initializing the jQuery library by default… I got too used. I’ll make an update to the plugin within a few minutes to make sure the jQuery is loaded even on themes that don’t load it by default.

Max, the updated plugin version has activated the quick search widget; however, I’ve now discovered my city selection criteria is not being reflected in the MLS search. I’ve tried naming the cities exactly as they are named within the MLS, but it has no effect. Is there something extra I need to do to get my cities to be recognized within the quick search?

Your IDX search is missing the City criteria – you need to make sure that the criteria is available in the form – if people can’t enter a city, then it won’t work from the URL either.

There is another problem that I can see – in our MLS in Arizona, our property type field called DwellingType and the parameters are SF and PH for Single Family and Patio Homes respectively. In your case I see that the field is called Property Type and the parameters (the types) are different from those that we have here in Phoenix. Anyway, this is something we will need to address in our next release. For now, I guess, you’ll have to wait until we get it to work for your “neck of the woods” 🙂

@bakie05 – I made some changes to the plugin, so it can be tuned to other MLSes as far a field names go. If you’re interested in testing it – write me back and I’ll send you a copy.

Maxchirkov – Yes, I would be interested in testing it. Please let me know how I can go about doing so.

@bakie05 – Awesome! Thanks! You can download the development version here.

I just looked at your IDX and here is what you need to do. Go into the flexIDX Plugin Settings, enter the base URL for your IDX (http://link.flexmls.com/rimmvdhhv5k,10), save settings, then go to the second tab of the settings (Advanced), scroll to the bottom and change City field name to area, Property Type field name to PropertyType (no pace). For the property type values copy and paste this:

    A – Residential
    B – Mobile
    C – Lots/Land
    D – Business Opportunity
    F – Residential Income
    G – Commercial
    H – Commercial Lease
    I – Investment

If you don’t want some of the choses to appear – just remove those lines. Now, the property types won’t work with the current IDX URL base, because your property types already selected. What you need top do, is to go into your flexmls account and create and IDX link that has the property type field, but no selections should be made. Then copy that link and make it your IDX URL base.

    Save settings.

Now, in the cities list (now you have areas instead), remove my cities and enter the following:

    03 – SE Redding
    06 – Bella Vista
    09 – French Gulch

Save settings. Now add the Quick Home Search widget (not the custom one – there are 2 of them available in the widgets list) to a sidebar – see if all options work and when you click Search Now they are being pre-populated in the search fields of your IDX. If all works, you can go to your IDX, click Select All under the Areas and it will give you all your area names – type them in into the cities text area (in the plugin settings) just the way I showed your above (3 areas).

If you’re having troubles, email me at max@phoenixhomes.com and possibly a temporary login for me (if you can) for your site so I can take a look.

Maxchirkov, I caught a snag with the new version of the plugin you provided. It disables the widget portion of wordpress and doesn’t allow the menu hovering function to work inside wordpress either. I tried reinstalling the plugin a couple different times with Firefox and Safari and got the same result.

This doesn’t sound like this particular plugin would affect on… I tried it in Firefox, Safari and Google Chrome and in all those browsers it works consistently for me. No issues whatsoever.

Is there a way I could take a look at it?

@bakie05 – my bad – I was wrong. I fixed that and upload new version 2.x.3 – use the same link to download it. Please, double check the version when you install it just to make sure it’s 2.x.3. It should work correctly now.
