Hi, after migrating to wordpress some of my articles that have long joomla ALIAS (long url) are cutted in wordpress.

It seams the limit is about 46 characters in wordpress. This would cause many 404 links for us because many of our links has longer characters.

If possible please remove the limitation of url characters in wordpress during migrating the links.

PS: We are using the %postname% permalink in wordpress.

Can you give me an example of an URL which is not working ?

I have tested long URLs. Joomla accepts 255 characters in the alias. WordPress accepts 200 characters in the post_name. So the URLs longer than 200 are truncated to 200 characters, not 46.

Can you describe your problem more precisely ? Which links are truncated on your side ?

We are using utf-8 characters, and according to this ticket they are limited to 33characters (without dash).

So it seams this problem is from wordpress itself.

    Thanks for the precision.
But I still don’t understand why you have a 33 characters limit.
I am using UTF-8 as well (French accents) and I have a 200 characters limit. In the database, the field post_name has a size of 200. UTF-8 characters are encoded from 1 to 4 bytes. So you can store 50-200 characters in the post_name depending on the number of UTF-8 characters and the size of each UTF-8 characters.

Anyway, if this is a WordPress problem, my plugin can’t do anything.
