Mail sent to wrong mail adress (4 posts)

My website was hosted on a .org domain but a couple of months ago we transferred to a .be domain.

I changed the "mail to" adress to the .be adress. But the mail from the contact form keeps arriving at the .org adress.

The host says i have to adjust the dns settings in the mail script. But i never set anything like dns settings, just changed the email adress.

I can't write simple scripts but i'm far from being an expert. But as far as I know, dns settings aren't set in the mailform php.

could someone confirm this? How does it actually work? Does the script look at the dns servers of the host to send mail?

DNS for your domain name mx (mail server)is usually set on the control panel of the account where you registered the domain.

Here is a good site to check the current status of your DNS:

So it probably has nothing to do with the plugin ??

I have a idea about what happens. When look in the control panel, it looks like my .be is an alias for the .org domain. The server sees a mail for .be and sends it to the .org mail adresses. I don't think it checks any dns servers as it alread knows it is local.

When I change the "send to" to another mail adres that has nothing to do with the .be or .org, the mail arrives at the correct adress.

Or is it all b*ll i'm talking ??

I do not have enough information to tell you what is wrong. It has nothing to do with the plugin. It is a server administration issue. You may need to seek help from web server tech support.

Yes, if I am correct, and if both email addresses and the mail server are local, mail can be delivered based on the servers' hosts file without DNS being involved. If you have a control panel like CPANEL, all this is configured on the panel settings.
