• I (auto) upgraded the “Fast and Secure Contact Form” (Version: 1.7.4) today (Oct 03, 2009) and since then the form is Not displaying on the page. Also, it is Not showing in the Installed Plugins section.

    I tried to manually upload it and re-install it, but I am getting the following error:

    Installing Plugin from uploaded file: si-contact-form.zip
    Unpacking the package.

    Incompatible archive PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Unable to find End of Central Dir Record signature

    Moreover, the “si-contact-form” folder has just 1 folder in it “captcha-secureimage” with the file “elephant.ttf” and I am unable to delete this. I am on a windows server.

  • Sorry you are having trouble.
    Out of hundreds of people a day installing this, you are the only one having this problem.

    I tested the download and it is OK. Try downloading a gain.

    Every time I upgrade si-captcha it fails because the elephant.ttf file is in use and I am unable to delete it. I do not know why. I usually end up downloading the files and uploading them to the server each time I upgrade instead of using the “Upgrade Automatically” link within WordPress.

    “Upgrade Automatically” link within WordPress usually works for most WordPress installations. Sometimes it does not work. If that is the case you can upgrade manually by deleting the si-contact-form plugin folder and uploading the upgraded one using FTP. The zip file is available on the plugin page.

    What does this error mean please? It occurs when I try to upload a plugin .zip file.

    Incompatible archive PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Unable to find End of Central Dir Record signature

    Your PHP may not have sufficient zip file support.

    OR

    Your wordpress may be requiring more memory than PHP has allowed.
    Some wordpress installs run out of available memory because it is set too low in PHP.
    Try one of these methods for increasing the amount of memory a
    PHP script may consume (most people just do #3)

    1. If you have access to your PHP.ini file, change the line in PHP.ini
    If your line shows 32M try 64M:
    memory_limit = 64M ; Maximum amount of memory a script may consume (64MB

    2. If you don’t have access to PHP.ini try adding this to an .htaccess file:
    php_value memory_limit 64M

    3. Try adding this line to your wp-config.php file:
    Increasing memory allocated to PHP
    define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '64M');

    4. Talk to your host.
