[resolved] Translation not working (7 posts)

    Hi,

I edited my previous post in a burst of enthusiasm that was unfortunately short-lived. No, I did not actually figured it out yet. Problem remains. Here it is:

I've installed Fancier Author Box on my French website and proceeded to translate it using Poedit. I created .po and mo. files and uploaded them in the languages folder. Sadly, nothing changed. I even deleted the original .mo and .pot files in English to see what happened: nothing. Despite the English language files being nonexistent, the plugin remains 100% in English, including when I access the website from a browser set in French (some plugins directly match your browser's language instead of the one set in wp-config.php).

I don't think I made a mistake when following the steps for the translation. WordPress and most of the other plugins on the website already work fine in their French version. However, you may find interesting that another plugin, which I've installed today, and contained many ready translations (including in French), also inexplicably remains in English. I am really at a loss here.

Has anyone ever reported such a problem? What can I do? I really like this plugin in any other way.

    Thank you!

    Jeanne,

I could be mistaken, but I think you must define language in wp-config.php.

Could you please give me a few examples of plugins that change their language without editing wp-config.php? Might as well check what it is they're doing that our plugin isn't.

    Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. wp-config.php has the language defined as French (sorry I didn't make that clear in my initial post).

    Got it.

And how did you name the translated files? It should be ts-fab-fr_FR.po and ts-fab-fr_FR.mo

We have a guide on translating WordPress themes and plugins at our blog, could you please make sure you covered those steps.

Yes, this is what they're named.

As far as I can tell I've done what I should, but it's the first time I translated a plugin, so who knows. I could try and send you my translated files for you to check... ?

Then it's weird for sure. Could you email me the files?

Not sure if I'm allowed to post my email here but it's slobodan [at] thematosoup.com
