   Expected behavior would be that changing the password would keep previous users locked out.

   No, I haven't tried anything. I was just providing feedback for what I perceive as a weakness in the plugin.

   I'm still happy I just discovered this plugin, which is going to make my life much easier, yet this is indeed an annoying weakness.
