Yesterday I upgraded WordPress to 3.3.2 and then upgraded Events Manager to the new version. I was using EM 4.0.6. It had a message about needing to upgrade to another 4.something prior to upgrading to 5.1.6. So I did that.

Once I was done. The Events main page and detail pages (I have the calendar in the sidebar) were giving 404.

I am on a IIS server and previously needed to have the EM_permalink_disable line added to the config file. That line is still in my config file.

When I removed the 5.1.6 and reinstalled version 4.3 (which was the intermediate version I installed) the Events page and Detail pages were working just like before.

I upgraded to check functionality before purchasing the Pro version. I want the Paypal integration — but I need to know the latest version will work with my setup before paying for the Pro version.

    Any thoughts?

  • Can you provide sample links when you try to upgrade? also, did you try to re-save permalinks?

Also, I suggest that you upgrade to the latest em version first before installing latest em pro version since a lot of improvements made since version 4.

Well, as I said I was trying to upgrade to the latest version and I can’t since it just displays 404 for the main event page and won’t let you click through from a sidebar calendar.

Yes, I did re-save permalinks more than once.

I don’t have the actual link to provide because I had to uninstall it and reinstall an older version. I can’t leave a live site broken. When I had 5.1.6 it would turn the main events page into a 404 error page. It looked exactly like this:
    http://www.nawboswfl.org/index.php/events2/

(Although that is really a link of a page that does not exist on my site)

On the site we have events listed in the right rail and on the homepage. If you clicked to get event details you’d see at the top the link was wrong. I have in the config file the define(‘EM_DISABLE_PERMALINKS’,true); As Marcus suggested to fix an issue last year.

The next version of EM apparently ignores that code as well since the links were permalinks and they were broken.

If you’re upgrading from v4, you should read this:

I advise you manually update to the latest version of 4 here – http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/events-manager/download/
