  • We’re seeing the same thing. The upgrade doesn’t work.

could you provide more info on the matter? i.e. wp versions etc.

also, have you tried disabling other plugins or reverting your theme?

I too am experiencing the fatal error. I have not updated to WordPress 3.3 yet due to some other compatibility problems with other plugins, but everything else is as updated as it can be.

This is happening to me too. I am using WP 3.3.1, Buddypress 1.5.2, Events Manager 5.0.1.

However as I am looking into this issue, the problem seems to have vanished. I’m confused. Perhaps a recent update to my theme (Custom Community) fixed it for me.

Hope this information helps even if it isn’t conclusive.

a couple of ppl have had this issue, but they’ve all been caused by the theme

In my case, the problem appeared once or twice after updating my theme and it was immediately after updating the plugin, but in a couple of minutes, it was gone.

I am not a programmer, but the plugin upgrade might have needed a brief moment to update the hundreds of events that are currently in the calendar over to the new style — but since I am not much of a programmer, I don’t know if that changeover would have modified the DB or taken much time.

Thanks for the update Marcus, and for pointing us in the right direction. 🙂

If someone with this problem can verify that it does or does not work when switching to twentyeleven theme, we can figure out if it’s a theme conflict.

I figured out another unrelated problem with themes today due to the fact they aren’t 100% custom post type ready. Good chance it may be a similar issue.

I switched to twentyeleven theme and tried upgrading again. I then got the “Events Manager upgrade still in progress. Please be patient, this message should disappear once the upgrade is complete.” Which doesn’t go away and my events are gone. I checked and the post_id was 0 in the wp_em_events table. I then reverted all the wp_em_* tables and went back to EventsManager 4.305. Upgraded to 5.0b1, which worked on twentyeleven theme. I then upgraded to 5.0rc1 and got the Fatal error: Call to a member function using_permalinks() on a non-object in \wp-content\plugins\events-manager-5.0rc1\classes\em-permalinks.php on line 164 So I get the same error when using twentyeleven theme.

Also, forgot to mention I’m using WP 3.3.1.
