I have the Events page set as my static home page which works just fine. However, I created a blank page titled 'Blog' and set that as my Posts page, and that shows the home page content (event list). I deactivated Events Manager and the Blog page showed the posts as it should. Once I activated Events Manager the Blog page once again showed the event list from the home page.

I ended up not using the Events page as the static home page, and that solved my issue. However, that may still be a problem for others trying to use Events as the static home page.
