Events Manager
Sidebar breaking when listing categories (9 posts)

    I'm developing a site based on a Genesis template. Event Manager works great, right up until clicking on an event category link.

    The resulting page breaks breaks both the sidebar and the links pointing to the actual events listing.

    I loaded a second Genesis template and the same action occurred, so I don't think it's a problem specific to the template I'm using.

    Thoughts? Help?

    you can try checking out the events manager templates for categories; here's how to work on templates http://wp-events-plugin.com/documentation/using-template-files/ or try it under EM settings > category format

    I've had the same problem

    The issue seems to be a div out of place according to our friends at studiopress,

    I'm yet to find the page that is created on the fly that contains the out of place div, would love an answer from the developers here.

    @charlesalder

    what page you experience that e.g. single event page, category or location page?

    did you try to change to default 2011 theme to test if it was a theme conflict?

    Yes I did and there was no difference using the twenty ten template.

    This page here http://www.talkingeducation.com.au/events/event/gw1, click the categories link and you'll see the sidebar slips under the content.

    http://www.talkingeducation.com.au/events/category/grant-writing will show you the result.

    I've been trying to find the page that controls this display, which page controls the display of this url that is created dynamically?

    do you have page template set on Events Page because if you use firebug and compare this two url:

    http://www.talkingeducation.com.au/events/category/grant-writing

    <div id="content" class="hfeed">
    <div id="sidebar" class="sidebar widget-area"></div>
    </div>

    AND this correct site
    http://www.talkingeducation.com.au/events/event/gw1

    <div id="content" class="hfeed"></div>
    <div id="sidebar" class="sidebar widget-area"></div>

    can you check it out?

    the guys at studiopress are right, will fix that.

    the solution is simple though (and better you do this since any change you made to that format won't be modified in an upgrade), go to Events > SEttings > Categories Format > Single category page format and remove the offending div tag (there's on only one).

    yes, definitely!

    however, better you must remove the div yourself if you modified that format at all (it'll only correct if the old value is exactly the same as the old default value)
