Hi – I’m using the latest version of WordPress with Headway Themes. I’ve gone through the process of deactivating and reactivating plugins, and unfortunately, Events Manager is causing the following error to display when the website if first loaded up.

Warning: ob_start() [ref.outcontrol]: output handler ‘ob_gzhandler’ cannot be used after ‘URL-Rewriter’ in /home/beatthecold/0621WVH4/htdocs/wp-content/themes/headway/library/common/functions.php on line 96

When I refresh the browser, the error disappears and the page renders correctly. If I shut the browser down and then restart and reload the site, the error displays again. Refresh, and all is fine.

I’ll post this on the headway forum too just in case it’s something their side.

    All the best. Gavin.

  • hi,

This maybe a theme issue; try to revert back to default theme or disable other plugins to narrow down the problem.

Hi @aglonwl. Yes, there is an enable gzip compression option for the theme and it seems that two updates ago Headway somethings been done that created a conflict with Events Manager. Disabling it fixed the problem. Thanks.
