• Hi,

I’m just in the early stages of putting together my new Buddypress site with Event Manger installed. Once my site is up and running as part of its promotion I’d like to add events, email the actual event organisers, tell them their event has been listed and suggest they register and take over management of their events.

Therefore, I’d like to create an event as admin and then sign over management of that event to a new subscriber. I’ve noted that if you make a user role “author” you can assign an admin created event over to them. Except I don’t want to enable the role of “author” because it enables increased Dashboard access within WordPress. Is there any way to assign management of an event to a Subscriber? I would guess this could be done by editing the Event Manager files, but I don’t really know where to start….

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks

(Just to confirm both “Author” and “Subscriber” have the same User Capabilities enabled in Event Manager. )

Hi, you can assign any user permission to manage events in Events > Settings > User Capabilities

as long as you assigned e.g. edit_events and edit_locations, users should be able to edit their own locations and events.

    Hi Marcus,

Thanks for that, but what you describe is a simpler situation than I’m after. I’m comfortable that users can create and edit their own events -that’s fine. But what I want to be able to assign an event created by one user to a different user, so that the second user can then edit that specific event. You can already do this if the second user has a role as an “author” but not if they are a “subscriber”. (this selection can be found when you edit an event as admin, it’s the next to last option from the bottom). However as I noted in my first post the user capabilities for both of these roles are the same, therefore I imagine the change has to be made someone in the php files for the Event Manager.

    Any idea?

    Many thanks,

aha i see. this is something I’ll have to look into later on, I think this is a WP limitation more than an EM bug as they should show all roles with the right caps.

I think I’m having a similar problem, except that I’d like to assign events to users with a custom level, assigned using the ‘User Role Editor’ plugin. I’ve checked all the permissions, and they seem to be correct, but they aren’t showing in the author drop down. Any ideas?

Looks like this is a completely different issue altogether, but found workaround here, if anyone else gets stuck 🙂 This might solve your issue too HD15
