  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating other plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    also, did you modify any EM templates?

    Thanks aglonwl.

    I switched to Twenty Eleven – this didn’t resolve the issue.
    I deactivated the plugins – this didn’t resolve the issue.

    Whilst testing these I noticed that my WP admin left-hand navigation mouse-over sub-nav works for all the sections (hover over ‘Plugins’ – ‘Installed Plugins’ ‘Add New’ etc pop out) except when I’m in the ‘Events’ section when hovering doesn’t pop out the sub-nav anywhere in the admin.

    Yes, I modified booking-fields.php

    I’m fairly certain you must have missed a plugin or something (e.g. mu-plugins?)

    otherwise, it must be due to your modifications. on a vanilla install of WP the datepicker definitely works.

    Thanks Marcus.

    I know it works – it used to until the other day. It also works on the development version of this website which has the same theme and the same plugins. That’s why I’m having trouble getting to the bottom of why it doesn’t work any more.

    I’ll carry on fiddling with stuff to see if any of it resolves this.

    I also have a brand new install and there is no date picker at all. I’m interested if there’s any fix to this.

    @babyatom

    does your dev. and production/live site have the same wordpress and theme/plugin versions?

    Thank you, aglonwl

    I did deactivate every single plugin, but that did not resolve the problem.

    Thank you for your suggestion to switch themes. I’ve done that and the date picker has appeared. I was using the Method theme from ThemeForest.

    Do you have any idea as to where I would begin to figure out the incompatibility?

    (@babyatom)

    So…
    My dev site is WP 3.4.1 with EM 5.1.6
    My live site is WP 3.4.1 with EM 5.1.7.

    Thanks for your help on this. I’d read all the other posts and had hoped it was a plugin or theme but having tried deactivating everything and getting nowhere was puzzled. And the fact that it’s OK on the dev with the same theme and plugins makes it especially confusing!

    @babyatom
    can you try the latest version 5.1.8.5 or the dev version?

    @sawyern5
    can you try this link – http://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-events-manager-problem-with-datepicker?replies=30

    I can’t risk updating the version – I’ve had some horrible experiences in the past where I upgraded and totally broke my client’s website :-/ I’ve got it working exactly how they need it and they’re taking lots of bookings so 5.1.7 is where it’s going to have to stay.

    I’ve been using a workaround making single recurring events (the date fields work for these). Not ideal but it works.

    Is there another way to enter dates on single events other than via the date picker in the ‘When’ panel? I wouldn’t mind the date picker being unavailable if there was another way – directly in the database for example.

    you’ll need to bite the bullet and update, no way round that. hopefully it should work smoothly, but in case not just back up your DB first.

    @aglonwl Thank you for the link to that thread. I’ve attempted to make the suggested fix, but so far I still do not see the date picker. I have a request in to my theme’s designer in hopes of some answers.

    @sawyern5 see http://msyk.es/blog/prevent-jquery-wordpress-theme/

    if that doesn’t help, please start a new thread, babyatom’s issue is different I think.
