Links to category archives show no entries (10 posts)

New 3.4.2 site with latest events calendar. I have some categories with events in them and the category archives show as links above the calendar. But when I click these cat links there is nothing listed in any archive pages. None of these events have expired yet and my permalinks are set to /%postname%/
Can you help, or explain how to make these category archive pages show events?

    Thank-you

    Hi houseofstrauss,

Have you tried deactivating all other plugins to see if this helps? It looks to me like either a plugin or theme conflict. I've got the In Focus theme locally and it works fine for me. What version do you have? Mind sending me a copy of yours?

    Thanks,
    Jonah

Hi Jonah, I have infocus V3.0 – 7.14.2012 (themeforest latest ) and wp 3.4.2 latest. Plugins are askimet and redirection by John Godley, but this is not redirecting anything except a few blog pages. That's it! I'll send you a link by email, as this site is not yet prime time.

    Thanks.

    Hey houseofstrauss,

Thanks for sending the theme. I was able to see the issue for myself locally. There's a fairly easy workaround to this but it might involve some other adjustments to get things working right. If you change the Events Template setting to Default Events Template in Events > Settings > Template, this will get it so the category pages at least show up.

Now, you might need/want to do some customizations to this template to get it to jive better with the theme. To do this all you need to do is modify /wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/views/ecp-page-template.php - make a copy and place in an 'events' folder in your theme. Then include any theme specific markup or code from your theme's page.php or other page template you'd like to use, wrapping it around the plugin specific code in ecp-page-template.php

    I hope that helps!

    Cheers,
    - Jonah

Thanks for that advice. Having problems identifying which code in ecp-page-template.php to substitute for the loop in page.php. Seeing you have this theme locally, perhaps you could just paste the correct full modified markup here of the file ecp-page-template.php that goes in my themes/infocus/events/ folder. Thank-you.

Hi Jonah, Thanks for the quick reply. That was the code (basically)I used, but the sidebar is rendered under the calendar, instead of the side. How can I make up the sidebar range to the right as in the original page template?
Not sure why this happens as it's using the same classes
    Thanks.

    Hey houseofstrauss,

Forgot a div in the code :) Here's the updated snippet: http://snippi.com/s/mlgsjrs

Thanks again for the new snippet ... not right yet. Sidebar still below the calendar. Note: the single event page is also doing the same, maybe this will fix also when main page is right.

    Hey houseofstrauss,

Sorry but I'm not going to be able to help you with this any more. The new snippet should work, it works for me but you may need to troubleshoot some more. The single event page will need the same treatment - you'll want to apply similar code changes to /wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/views/ecp-single-template.php

    Good luck!
