   The date picker uses JavaScript to pop up a little calendar to help choose dates. If another plugin or the theme is loading its scripts into other admin pages (a big no-no) it could cause a conflict with the calendar script.

   Try disabling JavaScript and you should be able to enter the dates in manually.

   You can also view source to see if another plugin or the theme is adding scripts to the event management page. Or disable plugins, reactivate them one at a time to troubleshoot which one may be adding scripts, and switch to the twentyeleven theme.
