[resolved] Plugin Etiquette and Licencing Clarification? (3 posts)

Hi, I'm just wondering what is proper etiquette for changing existing plugins? Like if I know one in the repository is not being updated any longer (author said so), then do I need to do anything special to resubmit it to the repository with updates/fixes? I mean obviously I'd give credit to the previous author, but beyond that is anything required by etiquette or legalities?

I'm new to this part of WordPress (I'm not much of a coder), but am looking to get more into it, and just want to understand the rules before I do something I shouldn't.

Legally, you do not have to do anything else. From an etiquette pov, it would be polite to let the original author know that you are forking his/her plugin.
