I'm using eshop with Elegant Themes estore.
Paypal transactions are OK but eshop doesn't get the order IPN.
The order stays "Pending" and the "Success - we received your order" email is not sent to the customer.
When I checked IPN history in my Paypal account, it said:
. Notification URL: http://bombonsricci.com/shopping-cart-2/thank-you/?eshopaction=paypalipn
. HTTP response code: 503
. Delivery status: Retrying
. No. of retries: 8

So, eshop paypal orders are getting paid but don't change to Active. What could be causing this?

- the email on eshop is the same as my paypal primary email
- I double checked the setup as defined in http://quirm.net/wiki/eshop/setting-up-merchant-gateways/paypal/
- I even tried this workaround: http://www.imagecreation.co.uk/2864/eshop-paypal-not-processing-orders/
- I tried turning IPN and Auto Return on an off and that didn't work
Can anyone help?
