Is there any way to add a user defined message on the confirmation screen so that the buyer knows they don't need to have a Paypal account to buy the product. Something that indicates they can use a credit card instead?

try changing this setting:
Send buyers email address to paypal? (This affects the form that Paypal shows to the customer.)

I'm having the same issue and I don't see how your "fix" does anything. I would think that he didn't explain the question well. We want the button on the checkout page to say more than "Paypal". It's misleading and I'm sure I'm losing sales. How do I add the text ".....and/or Credit Card" just after the Paypal logo?
