I've seen the discussions on having different shipping on different options and that it might be coming in future versions. Any ideas of timescales on this?

I have and I can't see how to apply different shipping for different options within a product and the last sentence on the shipping page does say "Shipping rates are applied on a per product basis in each product’s Post or Page."
In my example I have a record that we are selling as both a CD and an LP. The shipping costs for the LP are much greater than the CD, but the CD and LP are both "options" for the same product.

Having has another play with option 4 I think I can get this to work with some thought about the actual weights. I hadn't noticed the weight column being shown on the Product page once you've selected option 4, so apologies for that.

No problem. Shipping has become quite complex - which is why I'm currently updating the documentation.
