I have set an expiry date for the product and set it 5 days prior to my current date, and it still show the option for to add to cart. I know some PHP myself; what code should I add to check for the expiry date and to what file should I do it?

expiry dates are only for Google base, and don't affect eShop products in any way.
There is no facility to set expiry dates for products.
