I am the author of english premier league table plugin 🙂 First of all thank you for trying my plugin and for giving feedback.
I can make the plugin show x amount of teams – say top 5 teams.
I can also implement your idea to show only 2 teams above and below a particular team. The only concern I have is that your visitors will not get a clear indication of the table this way.
I will be implementing the top X teams very soon and release it. Would that satisfy your needs?

I was hoping you could allow users to specify which is their favourite team and show x teams around their favourite team. The plugin then becomes very useful for websites that are club related.
unfortunately showing top x teams wouldn’t satisfy my needs but it may satisfy other users needs and would be excellent as a feature of the plugin.
if you could do what I’ve mentioned above then the plugin, even though it is excellent, would be irresistable!

Let’s take an example with Bolton… Let’s say you choose to show 1 team above and 1 team below…
6. Liverpool 29 42
7. Bolton 29 40
8. Sunderland 29 38

I think this plugin has great potential. I’m buiding a soccer website at the moment and would love to use it but would like to be able to show the first x number of teams as showing the full table uses up too much space. An option to change font colour or bold the name font of your particular team would be great. Also perhaps the option to add a header title. One other note, the option to remove the link “English Premier League Table” doesn’t seem to work however I’m happy to keep it.
