Editorial Calendar
[resolved] Cannot see post time on embargoed posts (7 posts)

Despite having checked the "Time of Day" box in the Screen Options area and clicked "Apply," I still can't see the time of day for a future-dated (embargoed) post. I thought it was because the post was still in draft form, but I've published it and still cannot see the time.

    Any ideas? Not a deal-breaker, just a head-scratcher.

Thank you for using the Editorial Calendar. I'm sorry you're having an issue with it. I need a little more information to help with the problem.

Are you able to see the time of day for any posts? Can you see the time of day on our demo calendar (http://www.zackgrossbart.com/extras/sandbox/wp-admin/edit.php?page=cal)? What browser are you using?

    Thanks,
    Zack

Are you able to see the time of day for any posts? No.

Can you see the time of day on our demo calendar? Yes.

What browser are you using? Firefox 3.6.13

Screenshot of what I'm seeing is available here.

    Thanks for looking into this!

This makes me think there is an issue with the time of day information on your blog. That is often caused by a conflict with another plugin. Do you have any other plugins installed that affect the time of posts? When you view the calendar are there any JavaScript errors?

    Thanks,
    Zack

Perhaps it has to do with the facts that date/time are disabled on the post display in Settings | General? If so, I'm not going to worry further about it. Thanks for your help.

Telling WordPress not to display dates and times will not display the time of day on the calendar. Good find. I might be able to make the calendar show the time independent of that setting, but it sort of feels like it should respect the setting in WordPress. What do you think?

    Thanks,
    Zack

I suspect it would depend on why the date/time was suppressed in the first place. In my case, I suppress it because (a) the posts are not really date-dependent (these aren't news items, they're software tutorials) and (2) it hides the fact that posts weren't always so consistent ;-)

My feeling is, overriding that setting is a "nice to have" feature. The only time I would be anxious about what time a post is embargoed is on my weekly "newsletter day," when I want to make sure that a particular post is published prior to the ezine going out. Others may have something different going on.

Thanks again for helping sort this out.

    Deborah
