Love this plugin. Thanks. Works great while in the dashboard, but I just noticed that when site is viewed while logged in, "Howdy" still displays in the WP toolbar at the top.

me too. It displays "Howdy" when browsing the front end of the site, but shows "Welcome" (which is what I changed it to) when browsing the WordPress admin.
I was going to try to edit the edithowdy.php file myself but is too many lines of code that I think I will mess up :)

I just switched to the CJ Change Howdy plugin. Covers both front & back ends.
