Edit Flow
Reporte email notifications when story "assigned" (4 posts)

Hi, my name is Donald McArthur, a web editor at The Windsor Star, which is embracing WordPress as our primary content delivery mechanism for the web.

We just got the EditFlow plug in and I've been noodling around with it.

One question. If an editor creates or "assigns" a story to a specific reporter, can we make it so that the reporter gets an email ?

    Thanks,

    Don McArthur

Totally doable. If you're assigning the story by making the reporter an "author" of the post, then when you save that information the user will get subscribed to the post. You can turn on notifications, change the post status to "assigned" or similar, and all subscribers (including the reporter) will receive an email notification.

    Hi Don,

I'm testing EditFlow for our college newspaper so it would be great to get in touch.
I found your post Googling an answer for a similar question.

I'm at twitter @chavarisa or the paper @the_corsair

    Daniel,

I'm still stuck on how to assign a story to a particular reporter. Can you explain what my options are?

The best option would be to indicate the reporter as the "author" of the post, and then they'll receive any subsequent updates on the post. Were you thinking something different?
