Easy FancyBox
Opens once then crashes. (2 posts)

    Afternoon all,

In chrome, the FancyBox opens it should, I can scroll through the PDF, close it, works fine... But it won't open again, instead the whole site crashes, even source pages if open in a different tab.

I've followed the troubleshooting, disabled all other plugins, removed all other .js scripts for other applications, resorted back to the original Twenty Eleven theme, and still freezing after first open.

To open it again, Chrome has to be completely closed and re-opened. It's only Chrome not playing ball, Firefox and even IE work!!

Any thoughts or suggestions would be hugely appreciated.

It sounds like a PDF plugin problem in Chrome. No idea if this is a particular issue to your browser or all Chrome browsers. If you give me a link to your site, I can test :)

In any case, you can try two other approaches:
    1. Use fancybox-iframe instead of fancybox-pdf which will make the PDF open in an iframe and let each browser figure it out by itself how to treat it (most browsers that have the PDF plugin installed should respond fine and show the PDF)
    2. Use the cross browser compatible (so they say) Google Viewer to display the PDF. Try this in any page/post or sidebar content:
    <a class="nofancybox fancybox-iframe" href="https://docs.google.com/viewer?url=http://demo.4visions.nl/files/2011/07/pdf_open_parameters_v9.pdf&embedded=true">Open in iFrame with Google Docs Viewer</a>

In both cases you will need to enable the iFrame feature in the FancyBox settings. You can disable the PDF feature if you are using one of the methods for all PDFs on your site.
