Support for Marketpress & it's widgets (8 posts)

I was wondering if and when it would be possible to support this plugin as I've found Marketpress much easier and bug free and a better support base to use thus far.

The only problems I'm having so far is that, when setting up your MP store, during the installation process, the plugin automatically creates store links w/in your WP Menu Navigation system, but the pages aren't shown there, they're somehow thrown in there. So like when I created the "Shop page", several child pages were automatically created through the setup process of the plugin, (Products, Shopping Cart, Order Status). This wonderful plugin comes with a shopping basket widget. I'm trying to display this widget on the product page when a user adds an item to their basket but since the plugin create the page, your plugin doesn't see this page in the listing of child pages under the dynamic view settings for all pages.

    Any suggestions/feedback on this?

I would love to see this plugin being able to better support the market press theme, cuz that would make this plugin rock even more.

    Hello Anthony,

I'm always open for suggestions to support new features in Dynamic Widgets. However, MarketPress is a premium plugin and part of the WPMU DEV network. The WPMU DEV network costs quite some money every year. Not exactly what I earn by the donations made for Dynamic Widgets, not even close.

I invest my time into Dynamic Widgets and giving it for free to the WordPress community. Investing money into a developers network or even investing money into a plugin I won't use but solely for adding support to a free plugin for this goes too far in my humble opinion.

So, I'm sorry to have bad news for you. I couldn't find an option - like WPML uses- to get a free developers license. Without that I'm unable to add support for it.

I can totally understand and get that but they do have a light version that's also free. Would that make a difference?

That shines some new light. I didn't knew that. It's worth the investigation. I'll add it to the whishlist.

One thing I was reading already; eCommerce should use Custom Post Types. Don't you see the pages you're looking for down there in the list of options?

no that didn't work, the only way I could get this shopping cart widget to display in the post page was to have it show on all pages and manually select each page I don't want it to appear in. It seems to do the trick, but now every time I create a new page, I'll have to tick the page I just create so that the shopping cart page doesn't appear on it. Definitely not something I want to keep doing but will bear to do so and hope that a solution comes up.

The way the Marketpress works, the Product page and order page is automatically generated through their wizard setup. This however does not create an actual editable page/post via wordpress backend, nor is it in the WP Menu nav. So this makes it extremely difficult to play nice with your plugin (which has been fantastic thus far). So there is a work around for now that I can bear with and just hope that my wish and any marketpress user's wish comes true.

What you are looking for (please correct me if I'm wrong) is inheritance of the conditional rules in the Custom Post Types and Custom Taxonomies. Like already exists for Static Pages (the All Childs option).

I've had the same request a few weeks ago and I'm looking into it.

Just to let you know the latest development version 1.4.1.8 has hierarchical inheritance support for Custom Post Types and Custom Taxonomies.
