• Using WPML – find the Dynamic Widgets language settings too vague.

Unless I’m missing something the option is as follows:

    ————————————–
Show widget default on all languages? Y/N
    Except the languages:
    English
    Spanish
    French
    etc
    ————————————–

I have a widget in English and Spanish versions.

I want the English version to appear on the English page and to be the default for other languages without their own widget and I want the Spanish widget to appear ONLY on Spanish language pages.

So far so good – on the english widget I select yes and leave the exception boxes unchecked except for Spanish which I check because it has it’s own widget.

But what do I do for the Spanish widget? I don’t want it to be the default for all languages so I choose N on that.

The only other options I have are the exception boxes which appear to relate to the default language option which I have checked No on so they should not be relevant.

So where do I select Spanish as the only language this widget applies to?

Seems very unclear – can anyone explain?

    Thanks.

Let me try to clarify the used language. Everything works in a logical way:
Scenario 1: Default: Yes. The exception(s) make the widget set to ‘No’.
So, default behavior for the widget is to appear, unless the checked condition is met. Then the widget does NOT appear.

Scenario 2: Default: No. The exception(s) make the widget set to ‘Yes’.
So, default behavior for the widget is NOT to appear, unless the checked condition is met. Then the widget appears.

Does that clear up the fog for you?

Now makes sense – many thanks.
