I never thought about that! It’s because your front-page is your posts page, it displays on the actual posts page. I’ll have a look if I can add an exception rule for that.

Hello. I am using a custom theme and the plugin does remove the widgets but a big space is showing where the sidebar use to be. How to make this extend the page to fullwidth?

I’m sorry, Dynamic Widgets only shows or hides widgets depending on the rules you’ve set. This is something what should be resolved in the theme itself by adding a conditional rule for when a sidebar is or becomes empty. I’d advise you to contact the theme author for that.

    Hello jessica_a,

The feature you requested has been added and will be available in the next version. Please note this option is only available when the posts page has been set to the front-page. When the posts page is set to a static page, it will not be available.

    Fantastic, thanks so much!

    Hi there,
I am trying to use this plugin to put a text widget (called News & Events) in the primary sidebar that appears on the homepage only. I’ve tried changing a whole bunch of settings in the dynamic widgets panel, but the best I seem to be able to do is have News & Events on the home page and then a sidebar that says Primary widget sidebar on every other page. Is there a way around this? Please let me know. Thanks!

I’m not sure if I understand your message correctly. This is how it looks like to me what you’re doing:
    – You have a sidebar “Primary widget” only defined at the homepage
    – You have a widget “News & Events” put into the sidebar “Primary widget”.
    – You only want to show the widget at the homepage.

It looks like you’re done already. basically DW is not necessary here. It’s a different approach of handling widgets by specifying sidebars, not widgets.

However, also what looked like you have done:
    – Defined the sidebar “Primary widget” on all other locations

Now you’re using the DW approach. Not touching the sidebar, but only the widgets. The config you have to do now in DW is for the “News & Events” widget:
    – Set everything to ‘No’ (use the Quick setting at the top)
    – Switch “Posts page” to Yes when your posts page is the homepage OR tick the checkbox belonging to the page under the static pages section when you’re using a static page as your homepage.
