Followed the instructions and the videos twice. Same result. The styling is missing, saved settings for the theme are missing, and there are resulting errors on the home page.

this is the screenshot of the resulting problems when I transfer it to a new server with a new domain:

Some theme authors do not store their settings in the wp_options table. If this is the case then you might have to go back and manually update those settings.

Currently the duplicator only attempts to update settings found in the wp_options table, because that is the common store for where settings are saved. Future versions may allow for serialization updates on other tables based on choosing those tables.

    Hope this helps!

Like the look of this, but from your reply does it mean it can't really be used as a backup tool?

    I appreciate your reply Lifeinthegrid.

I was able to make an exact backup and move the customized theme and all of its contents using another WP plugin. It worked just fine so I'm not sure about their settings not being able to be copied over...the other script worked whereas yours did not.

Not sure if it is appropriate to link theirs in this thread, don't wanna be disrespectful.

wpvince, if this plugin does not work, there ARE others that will. I think it just depends on how customized your wp site is. If it is vanilla, this may work ok. If it is highly customized, you may find another plugin more suitable.

    Hey Apokalupsis,

Definitely link the plugin here! It's all an open source community so it is good to see how others take an approach at data migration. The process of moving these types of systems is pretty complex and involved.

The better we can make all WordPress plugins the better we can all use the application. So yes please leave the link to plugin and the theme your using here and I'll take a look. I know there are several out there so I'd like to see which ones work best with larger more complex moves..

    Thanks for your feedback!

OK. The plugin is called "WordPress Move". And after a little tweaking and quick help from the author, it moved my site quickly and easily.

    The plugin: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-move/

The site it moved: http://www.auvtkd.com which has numerous plugins and has a rather complex and customized theme.
