   Any ideas on why it might be pulling the full text of the post?
   Hoping it will just pull the standard excerpt length?

   My guess is that you have another plugin or code snippet in your theme modifying the excerpt length. The plugin will only use the excerpt unless you add some code like this: http://www.billerickson.net/code/display-posts-shortcode-full-content/
