I setup bitly to shorten my urls.
But whenever someone tweet my post, links are not shortened.

    Hi Both

This is for TweetMeme itself and not Twitter. Are you both using TweetMeme and seeing this issue?

It does work with the TweetMeMe function, however it would be fantastic if you could build this into the standard Tweet function too. Especially as my URL is quite long and takes up a lot of characters. I'm sure other bloggers who use your plugin would find this useful too.

I will also make a separate feature request via your plugin.

    Thank you.

    Yes, I second this request.

My URL's a really long and looks ugly when tweeted.

Please add a shortening function if possible.

I too would love to be able to shorten URL's using services like bit.ly for TWITTER and not just for TweetMeMe. Please update this.

It should be pretty straight forward to have the plugin pull the short link if it's available.

    It's formatted like this in the source code: <link rel='shortlink' href='#' />

The shortlink WordPress function is wp_get_shortlink.

    I'm having the same issue.
@ChrisCree: would you mind explaining this a bit further to someone who is not so experienced with code?
