Do not use Dagon's plug-in. It is highly destructive and forced me to re-upload my entire database plus files. See step-by-step below. Thank God for paranoid backups.
1. Installed latest version of Dagon's Sitemap Generator Plugin for WordPress.
2. Activated plug-in.
3. Customized to my needs. Set to domain.com/sitemap/ and linked up to my sitemap XML generator.
4. Suddenly all pages in my install routed to domain.com/sitemap/. Realized it's time for some backpedaling.
5. Deactivated Dagon's monster and cleared local and wp-cache & cookies. No effect. Not good.
6. Uninstalled Dagon's monster and cleared local and wp-cache & cookies. No effect.
7. Re-installed database from my last fresh install. Cleared local and wp-cache & cookies. No effect.
Working on overwriting files now.

Even after removing every trace of this thing, the problem persisted. Disabled every plug-in and the problem went away. Now to start turning them back on and see which one got wrecked.

Found it. It's a negative reaction with Jon Godley's Redirection plug-in. Deactivating that makes the problem go away.

Yep; it's buried it in the wp_redirection_items table which was a table created by the Redirection plug-in. Removing that line that routes '/' to '/sitemap' repairs the damage. [Whew]
MrBluesummers, you just SAVED me from having a heart attack or committing murder, one. Thank you for posting the fix; I was wigged in the extreme trying to find the problem. On the plus side, I rediscovered some choice swear words that I'd forgotten, so there's that.
A reminder to one and all: DO NOT use Jon Godley's Redirection plug-in in conjunction with Dagon Design Sitemap Generator or your homepage will permanently redirect to your sitemap!

It's as simple as deleting that redirection created in the redirection plugin
