   If I am using the CYC plugin to wrap my registration / login pages with the header/sidebar/footer from my theme, my assumption is that I need to edit my themes CSS to change the layout of the registration page - correct?

   If so, can someone help me to get started (my bigger issue is that the wordpress USERNAME / EMAIL fields are right on top of eachother without any padding and also when viewed in IE7, the email field jumps up next to the USERNAME field)

   No need to change your theme, only to fix CYC...
   Here is a version I fixed, so far only available from my site since I didn't get a reply from the plugin author.
