   If a custom capability is specified, the plugin does not appear to create the capabilities. (They do not appear in the members plugin)

   These can be manually added using the members plugin.
   EG: if you specify capability video, then add capabilities

   edit_video, read_video, manage_video, delete etc...
   and
   edit_videos, read_videos, manage_videos

   You cannot *create* capabilities like what you're thinking. You can only *add* them to a role. There's a slight difference. But, this difference is why you don't see them.
