   Hallo
   My custom content type is not using single-case-studies.php it is using the WP single.php. Tried changing the settings but at a loss, hence the email. Any new ideas would be gratefully received,

   Presumably, the name of your post-type is "case-studies"? Did you check the CCTM-->Content Types --> Sample Template to verify the name of the file to be used? Can you do an export of your CCTM definitions (under CCTM --> Tools --> Export) and attach it here. WordPress's way of choosing template files causes me much consternation -- it obfuscates much about how it formats pages. I wonder if the problem isn't with a hyphen in the post-type name... before you try changing the post-type name, however, make sure you have a backup.
