I'm confused. I see an option to assign a CSS tag to each field I create for my content type. But I can't figure out how to access the CSS tag either in the controller template generator or via code intended to appear in the template.

The only place fields are currently generated is inside the WP manager. Based on your other threads, I suspect you are wishing to generate form elements elsewhere. This video should clarify:
