   I thought this would be rather easy...

   I'd like to change the confirmation message...

   I went to the Plugin Editor and modified:
   "Your message was sent successfully. Thanks."

   But after saving the update, I went back to test it out the confirmation was the same.

   Any thoughts on what (else) I need to do?

   Clear your browser cache, your website cache (if your using any caching mechanisms), and refresh the page.
   That should do the trick.

   If you experience the same problem again, please make sure that your changes in the form confirmation emssage have been saved correctly.

   For others who are trying to change their success message:

   You need to change the code in contact-form-7/includes/functions.php

   The text for the "on success" message in the green box is at the top of this file. This is also the place to edit the error message or validation messages.

   Hi,

   I'm actually with tjn505 on this one. I DID update the contact-form-7/includes/functions.php file. I DID save and upload properly. I DID clear my cache and try in two separate browsers with no response to the change. I even see my change in the core files of the plugin editor, but it isn't reading :\

   any ideas?

   You don't need to edit any files for changing messages. You can find "Messages" section in the admin page of Contact Form 7, you can simply edit messages there.
