[resolved] Contact form 7 not working with WordPress 3.4 (25 posts)

    Hi
I had a client update their wordpress to 3.4, and the contact form stopped working (getting a "Failed to send your message. Please try later or contact the administrator by another method." error)

Reinstalled the plugin didnt work, so I ended up installing a temp site with a fresh copy of WP 3.4 and then installing a new Contact Form 7, and I am getting the same error

Does anyone have it working on 3.4. Or does someone know what setting is causing the issue?

    Any help appreicated

    Kind regards
    Julie Sharpe

I have just fixed mine, but had to install and configue the WP-Mail-SMTP plugin to get it working

I can confirm it's still working on both of mine. No changes necessary.

Doesn't work on any of my sites, not even with WP-Mail-SMTP.

    Any help appreciated.

That trick worked for me! Thanks jules_nz!

@michaelwilke, check this thread to see if something in there helps: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/contact-form-7-jetpack

Not working for me. I get the default contact form 7 error when submitting and no email is sent.

Tried deleting and reinstalling contact form 7
Tried reinstalling the update to 3.4
Tried disabling Contact Form to DB Extension and all other extension
(the form data does make it into the DB with Contact Form to DB Extension)
Tried disabling all other extensions. (my site has only 1 other WP No Category Base - WPML compatible)
Unsure if other emails are being sent or not

    Any things to try?

I just installed the plugin WP-Mail-SMTP, never even looked at the settings, just installed and activated, and it fixed my contactForm7.

***I'd like to not have another plugin to manage. This seems like a temporary fix.***

Why does the update to 3.4 break contactForm7. How can I fix without the plugin?

    Any ideas out there?

    Thanks!

Try to just add WP-Mail-SMTP if it suddenly stops working.

Mine was working and then WP 3.4 and got the red error message on send message. I had to add WP-Mail-SMTP (latest version Version 0.9.1 ) plugin and set SMTP to defaults of localhost and then form worked again.

I am having a similar problem regarding my email address that's connected to my blog: WordPress does not recognize my email address and I am not able to receive emails from that address. Please advise as to how I should handle this situation. Is there a certain plugin that I need? I tried re-installing version 3.4 but that didn't do anything. I've been without use of this email now for well over a week.

By the way, I tried deactivating my current Contact Form plugin and installing the one suggested above: WP-Mail-SMTP. But I have no idea how to continue with the process, as I didn't create my blog in the first place and have lost touch with the person who did. Thank you for any advice/suggestions you may have.

@margo44 I'm not sure if you have the same problem as the original Poster of this thread but you don't have to deactivate Contact Form 7, you have to add and activate WP-Mail-SMTP and leave the setting as their default.

    Have you tried that?

The same problem on some of my sites. Only one customer's site is OK.

wp_martin - Thank you for the response. Actually, the form I have in my blog is called Fast Secure Contact Form, the creator of it being Mike Challis, and I'm assuming that's not the same form as Contact Form 7? In any case, I tried what you suggested but I'm still not able to get my email functioning again. Perhaps the reason being because I don't have Contact Form 7 installed?

This is the site of the contact form plugin I have:

    http://www.FastSecureContactForm.com/

I double-checked and don't see anything in my site that indicates I have Contact Form 7, unless I'm missing something.

I am admittedly lost in all of this! It's clear to me how very LITTLE I know when I read all of your comments and conversation back and forth. This is not by a long shot my area of expertise, and unfortunately I do not know anyone in my personal circle who can help me. Any advice that any of you experts are willing to offer is much appreciated!

@margo44, Forget about Contact Form 7, that's a different plugin and it's not your case.

Unfortunately I know nothing about the one your are using. If you are willing to change it, Contact Form 7 is provably the best contact form plugin for WordPress. It's very easy to use, as well.

    Sorry again.

@wp_martin WP-Mail-SMTP made no difference to me at all :/

Installing Jetpack made Contact Form 7 work again though - go figure...

I have spent the past few hours trying to get past this error with no success. I have no idea what to do now. I tried everything in this thread - WP-Mail-SMTP with lots of different settings combinations, activated Jetpack, made the code change in the class-phpmailer.php patch... Any help is greatly appreciated. I have to Contact Form 7 forms on WordPress 3.4 and have gotten the "Failed to send your message. Please try later or contact the administrator by another method." error every time. Trying to launch a site and this is the only thing stopping me... Thanks so much.

Steveosan, try to reinstall WordPress via it`s management console or via FTP and apply patch that described at my earlier post here. Remove all plugins that was been installed earlier to solve the problem and try to send some messages via Contact Form 7. If this will not work, try to get attention of your hosting provider technical support, there may be many situations in which mail cannot be sent by php applications.
